To achieve the distinct tones of Smoked Oak, I employ a process called "Ebonising" - a technique dating back to when furniture makers would blacken ordinary wood to mimic the look of exotic, expensive African ebony.

The Ebonising process triggers a chemical reaction between the tannins in the oak and a specialized solution, altering the material's color at the atomic level. Unlike a simple surface stain or dye, this method penetrates deep within the wood's cells, permanently changing the tone from within.

The wood takes on a deep, luxurious black hue, yet maintains the natural feel and beauty of the oak's character. Finished with a subtle mid-sheen coat of bees wax, the grain remains exposed, accentuating the inherent charm and allure of the oak.
