White American Ash

Fraxinus americana, the white ash or American ash, is a fast-growing species of ash tree native to eastern and central Northern America

Ash, a regal hardwood, boasts a stately grain and an elegant visual texture. Its pale-brown heartwood and nearly ivory sapwood exude a refined, understated beauty. Sturdy and dense, yet lighter than oak, this smooth-to-the-touch timber takes beautifully to gluing, staining, polishing and bleaching, making it a favored choice for the discerning craftsman.

Ash's remarkable strength has long been revered, earning it a storied history as the timber of choice for spear shafts. In fact, the very words used to describe this noble wood - the Old English 'æsc' and Latin 'fraxinus' - were once synonymous with the spear, so closely tied was ash to this storied weapon.

All timber is sourced from FSC and PEFC members - “As members of the Timber Trade Federation, we are committed to sourcing our timbers from legal and well-managed forests, condemning illegal logging and working with other suppliers to eliminate it.” E O Burtons Timber Suppliers
